Points of Distinction

Mr. King is a cum laude graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law. Admitted to practice law in both the state and federal courts of Maryland and before the United States Tax Court, Mr. King focuses his practice on estate planning and administration, elder law, estate and tax litigation, and business law. Mr. King received his Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy from Salisbury University (where he is an inductee in the Alumni Hall of Fame) and continues to teach Philosophy as an adjunct professor for the Community College of Baltimore County in Catonsville, where he is also a coach of the Ethics Bowl team.

Barrett R. King has worked with clients that range from the personal representative of the small estate to the large institutional organization seeking out retail space to open their newest branch location. In all cases, Mr. King works closely with his clients to execute their wishes as well as overcome the obstacles that impede the realization of their goals.  Understanding that his clients need him to share in their successes and their challenges, Mr. King works to provide a plan to implement client’s intentions and to come up with solutions for client’s problems.  The non-profit organization just starting out and looking to achieve tax-exempt status will be given the same amount of attention as the young couple that seeks counsel on how to ensure their first child will be taken care of in the event of tragedy.

Mr. King brings a unique perspective in estate planning, advising clients on protecting their businesses through asset protection and business succession planning, premarital agreements, as well as intellectual property and digital assets (including online account information and internet identities) as a comprehensive part of their estate planning needs.
