Nick Carpenter is an Associate Attorney with Elville and Associates, P.C., where he brings a thoughtful, principled approach to Estate Planning and Estate and Trust Administration. Guided by his deep commitment to service and advocacy, Nick's work reflects both his compassion for others and his belief in protecting the dignity and autonomy of every individual he serves.
Before joining Elville and Associates, Nick built a strong foundation in public service and disability rights advocacy. His early career focused on expanding healthcare access and safeguarding vulnerable populations — experiences that continue to inform his perspective in elder law, asset protection, and special needs planning. While serving as a Fellow with the Maryland Department of Legislative Services in the Maryland General Assembly, Nick worked on initiatives designed to strengthen healthcare systems and address disparities affecting Maryland communities. Earlier in his career, at the Maryland Department of Health, he supported the Community Health Resources Commission in its mission to expand access to affordable, quality care for populations disproportionately affected by chronic diseases and behavioral health challenges.
Nick's decision to pursue a legal career was grounded in empathy and purpose. As he explains...
I chose the legal profession because I felt the need to become someone who can be directly helpful to people. At Elville and Associates, one of my primary roles is to legally process your loved one's estate so you can have space to emotionally process their passing. Taking that weight off a family's shoulders can really make a difference during a challenging time in their lives.
A graduate of the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law (J.D.), Nick also holds a B.A. from Marist College, summa cum laude. During law school, he worked in the Civil Rights for Persons with Disabilities Clinic, where he helped connect individuals facing disability discrimination with vital legal services — earning the 2022 CALI Award for effective client management, advocacy, and teamwork.
Nick's clients appreciate his calm and confident presence, as well as his patient, attentive listening style. He takes the time to understand each client's story, values, and goals, crafting legal strategies rooted in both precision and compassion. His approach reflects the heart of estate planning: honoring the whole person while preparing for life's transitions with care, foresight, and respect.
Nick is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association and the Grand Lodge of A.F. & A.M. of Connecticut, and he continues to dedicate his career to helping individuals and families find clarity and peace of mind through the planning process.
