Stephen R. Elville, J.D., LL.M., is the President, CEO, and Managing Principal of Elville and Associates, P.C. He founded the firm with a focus on estate planning and elder law and has spent his career helping individuals and families plan for some of life's most important decisions.

Steve's practice includes estate planning, elder law, special needs planning, tax planning, asset protection, Medicaid and long-term care planning, fiduciary representation, estate and trust administration, business planning, and guardianship matters. His approach to practicing law is closely tied to a philosophy that has long guided his work and the firm:

Planning for Life, Planning for Legacies

For Steve, effective planning involves much more than preparing legal documents. He believes clients should understand their plans, why they are making particular decisions, and how their legal, financial, family, and personal circumstances work together. Education has therefore been a central part of his practice throughout his career.

Steve is a frequent presenter and master educator on estate planning, elder law, special needs planning, asset protection, and related topics and has presented hundreds of educational programs, workshops, and webinars for clients, professional advisors, and members of the community.

Steve has been selected to the Maryland Super Lawyers list 11 times. He earned both his LL.M. and Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Baltimore School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, from the University of Baltimore. He is admitted to practice in Maryland and before the United States Tax Court.

His professional affiliations include WealthCounsel, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), the Academy of Special Needs Planners, EPIC Peer Group, and the National Network of Estate Planning Attorneys.

Throughout his career, Steve has also been active in professional and community leadership. He is a past Chair of the Elder Law and Disability Rights Section Council of the Maryland State Bar Association, past President of the Coalition of Geriatric Services (COGS), and has served as Chair of the Pro Bono Subcommittee of the MSBA Elder Law Section. He also served for many years as chair of Law Day Maryland.

Steve's commitment to education and community involvement extends beyond his legal practice. In 2014, he founded the Elville Center for the Creative Arts, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to music education for children and young musicians. The Center connects young people with educational opportunities, musical instruments, equipment, and other resources that can help them continue their musical development.

Steve also serves as President of Friends of Baltimore Classical Music, Inc., and is the owner of Elville Studios, LLC.

Today, Steve continues to work directly with clients while leading Elville and Associates and its attorneys and staff. His focus remains on helping clients understand their options, make well-informed decisions, and create plans designed to work not only when they are signed, but throughout the different stages of their lives.
